Has anyone got any recommendations for light novels similar to this?
I just realized that the whole plot of this story (including future expansions) is basically the song, "Soldier, Poet, King" by The Oh Hellos. ♪There will come a soldier who carries a mighty sword. He will tear your city down. ♪ -If a space spellform that could cut thru anything with 3 meters is considered a mighty sword and if the city is the whole Empire. ♪There will come a poet whose weapon is His word. He will slay you with His tongue. ♪ -Those who have seen his affinities, progression and potential would know. "His Word" as in incantation or spell. ♪There will come a ruler whose brow is laid in thorn. Smeared with oil like David's boy♪ -Basically, he would become a God-like entity who also possesses a tremendous organizational power.
Just a question please answer. Is the flow of how is it written still the first person point of view type of setting? Until chapter 300+ is it still that way of writing??? Please answer...
It's an enjoyable read, it flows nicely and is easily in the top 5% of webnovels for the genre but is not a masterpiece as some claim as there are clear flaws. If you enjoyed the early parts of Supreme Magus it is similar all be it with different themes and less slice of life. The aforementioned clear flaws are mostly the common mistakes of many new web novelists i.e The characters are mostly one dimensional/generic often only showing their personalities by demonstrating that they fit a trope and letting that explain them. They often hint at deep potential but never see it realised and occasionally behave extremely out of character for the sake of plot. The world can feel small as named characters always come back. The plot itself is interesting but nothing unique, again, mostly comprised of predictable tropes. It is also clear the author didn't plan in the long term and is getting lost in the latest section. 8/10 worth trying especially if you like this DnD inspired style of fantasy.
Just got caught up in reading all 314 chapters, up to date. And I’ve gotta say, probably one of my more favorable reads lately. Eryk isn’t dumb, naive? A bit, but he learns quickly. The author puts a lot of effort into side characters well. I’m the beginning the writing might seem a little detached? (Maybe that’s not the right word) but it does get better with time. There isn’t a lot of backstabbing, some here and there, which I like since that seems common in other novels. The plot is well written and flows between chapters. Have fun deciphering the attributes of his character, I read on my phone so it’s a little iffy with how it’s written out, but it’s not that hard to figure out if you look at it enough. Anyways, to anyone hoping to read, give it a go. Nothing to lose in my opinion. It’s got magic, adventure, fighting, and isn’t like one of those common transmigration novels. Enjoy it!
thought I'd drop a bit of a spoiler here. on the authors pateron he has said that there will be 10 books total of soilder's life, then he will switch to writing mages life with the same MC. for reference, he just finished book 5 and started book 6. each book is like 50-70 chapters.
Btw author update rate is 3+ chapter a week
I won't lie, paying a premuim on Patreon and reading ahead is absolutely worth it. I don't regret it one bit.
This novel is beautiful, the protagonist always has something to do, always has something to learn, the environment, that warm feeling that I feel when the protagonist is with his friends, with his companions. That camaraderie, the power system which limits the protagonist's capabilities, the fact that the protagonist constantly grows stronger every day he trains.
Trail 102 Fun but not for me I decided to drop it even though it was a bit of a waste of the nine days I spent reading this
