    Its not called Demonic Cult because they are evil, its called that because its a religion of the Heavenly Demon. Main wish of the cult was to be recognized as a religion. So dont compare RI to this directly. Both are good novels.

    Has a great story and the side-cast is developed enough where it doesn't seem they just in the background. The story contains very profound messages which aren't regularly seen in Murim novels.

    I liked the beginning, after 100 it becomes boring when Soon Seong becomes the heavenly demon. Plus the old heavenly demon doesn't feel like heavenly demon. I have seen it happening, when demonic are with MC, there demonic nature never shows. Only when they are opposed by the MC do their nature shows.

        Absolutely agree bro. I have a theory that most of those RI and LoTM brainrot fans are 14 - 16 years old kids that have just started reading web novels. Because at that age they are starting to enter their edgy, "it's dark like my soul", phase, hence they are squirting everyday to Fang Yuan quotes or Amon's f*ck*ng monocle.

        Yeah I agree, Though Ri is my second favorite novel, I don't like when everyone just compares and compares. And no, my favorite novel is not Lotm, Lotm is 4th favorite.

        real, its crazy how much LOTM and RI fans glaze their respective novels and hate on every other novel in existence. Its not gonna make me want to read the novel, its just gonna make me hate it.

        I tried RI and couldn't stomach it. It's the kind of novel where the MC is a complete loner, a lunatic, and refuses to properly communicate with anyone. Not to mention, it feels like every single other character is out there to plot against him and kill him. There isn't a single reasonable person in MC's path, and he makes no friends. It got boring real quick and I had to drop it.

        same i really dislike how evil and ruthless he is, generally i dont like mc's like that very much its fine if they are a little ruthless and a little evil but fang yuan is a complete d*ck and from what I heard from other people he is a complete maniac and slaughters his family to enhance his talent.

        Different eyes, different sights. RI is not for the weak stomach plus Ri is from a villain's POV so it is like that. Plotting for something is ingrained in Gu world. Not only against MC, everybody plots against everybodu. There are no reasonable persons in Gu world because in that world, to reach true heights, you have to have "undesirable" traits. I put on quotes because we should not judge a fantasy world with vastly different values. Maybe Grimdark is not for you, how about you try a western novel called Broken empire trilogy, a real fantasy hard copy novel to see if you like Grimdark. If you still don't like the one I am recommending, Grimdark is not for you. Though I would say Ri is not without flaws. It's good but not without flaws.

        I tried RI I got pretty form it was really good but I literally could not take it EVERYTHING ALWAYS WENT WRONG the most bazaar changes out of nowhere and in the end he lives not unscathed at all almost dead but alive but you know what wasn't alive my nerves I was sometimes scared to read the next chapter cause it was nervewracing so bad.And for the first time I met my match I got to the part were he was at the tower and he was forced to ascend

        You mean 88 imperial court true yang building and when he became a zombie? Well it is a part a lot of people don't like because Fang Yuan loses a lot in that part. But it's finale is also super amazing. Also, everything going wrong is explained and then detailed even further in the story revealing truths we didn't know existed. I mean I like Reverend Insanity because of that nerve wracking feel. I can't predict Ri as I could most stories.

        Its not every person cup of tea but once in a whole we need evil MC not all need to be goody shoes or ruthlees like most MC only killing enemies and etc My Man Feng Yuan is a tramigrator and a reincarnator... Mean he died on earth went to that world then lived a naive and good life got fuked by the world and became evil over course of 500 years then died and started again and now he is ruthless For him the most beautiful women are nothing bcz when they die they will be bones like everyone so he sees the most beautiful women as bag of bones that will left after their death His goal is ETERNAL LIFE and for that he will sacrifice everything even himself He will destroy Fate with his own hands if he has to but he will achieve Eternal Life and if he does in the process then he will die with a smile

        That's not though. If you can't read until 650 chaps then you can't say that. You don't have enough information to form opinion about Fang Yuan. And 650 chaps is a minimum.

    The novel stands out positively when not compared to "RI" because the main character isn't inherently evil; rather, his malevolence stems from a desire for revenge. What captivates me is his quest for vengeance, which I find intriguing.

    I have post-RI trauma so I'm not sure if I can stomach an MC who goes around calling himself a demonic cultivator without actually being demonic like Fang Yuan

      Yeah, like Wang Lin is from Ri(renegade immortal) is ruthless but also kind but at least he doesn't call himself demonic. He literally says I am not a saint, nor am I evil, I am me. Plus before people say that sounds like Feng Jiu Ge, Renegade immortal is the inspiration for Ri and is quite old, started in 2007 I believe. Though Wang Lin's sworn brother Situ Nan is demonic and yeah, I can call him demonic. He is not the Fang Yuan type of demon but more like Bai Ning Bing, he is tyrannical and forces others to bend to his will.
