Over the coming thousands of years, humanity had built itself up but always died again.

Nobody remembers the past.

Nobody remembers what humanity had once accomplished.

Now, everyone is living in a world where the Specters reign supreme.

-----

A boy with amnesia woke up in the middle of the Dregs, the worst part of Crimson Fungus City.

The boy grows up and manages to become strong enough to pass an exam for one of the most prestigious jobs in existence, a Zephyx Extractor, someone that can harvest the powers of Specters.

Sadly, he had already gained a power from a Specter in the past, which made him ineligible for the position.

But then, a mysterious man visits him.

Since LK is turned off, I'll say what I need to say. This novel was a complete gem that turned into a pile of waste. The writing quality, update stability, character development, and world building are all a 5/5. On the other hand, the main character, the one we follow the whole story, is a complete joke as of chapter 520. His reasoning for his actions is really, really, dumb. He feels guilt toward an action which was not his fault (According to the story), and I can't even blame him for feeling that way. I *can* blame the Author though, for giving me such a subpar character. I hate him, I hate his philosophy, and how he acts. I loved the 1st about 300-ish chapters. I've hated most of the rest.

Yeah, I can see your point, many can’t relate to Nick’s idealistic and sort of childish way of thinking. It just won’t make sense logically for some, but I don’t think blaming the author is right. His development for his characters did not suddenly get subpar, but rather he made a character he knew people would disagree with. Totally justified if you don’t like Nick, though blaming the author since the character didn’t develop in the fashion you wanted is wrong.

I don't think his guilt is unfounded. True, the first two deaths by may not have been his fault. But the event with the Crimson Sea is still his fault, even though it is accidental. Just because he was not aware of the dire consequences, doesn't mean he isn't guilty. He didn't do it out of good intentions either, but to eradicate a competitor. When it went out of control and killed many people, of course he would feel guilt. People with no sense of shame will think none of it is their fault. However, people with shame try to seek forgiveness in their own way. That is what led him to his current philosophy, even though it is a bit farfetched or too idealistic.

Dang this sucks to hear. I didn’t even like him in the 1st 200 chapters so I quit reading . However everyone was saying how much better he is now. Guess I’ll keep this on the back burner then cuz it’s a REAL SHAME. I too love the world building , power system, and fights… it’s just Nick is so unbearable to read. If he didn’t have so many dumb mood swings this would be like the top 3 novels. Nick is the reason this novel is so low ranked and I don’t see why people are shocked when this keeps dropping.

This novel is one of the best novels I have read so far. It is kind of just within the realms of SS, LoTM, MoL, but better than the rest obviously. Highly reccomended for readers looking for a Hero to Villain to Antihero transition. The MC is not perfect, but human. There is not really any romance at all till 580 chaps, atleast. MC is seemingly naive but deadly. There is character growth. Action, Lore, and World building, all in good amounts. Power system's pretty simple. MC's plot armor is kind of null🌚. MC's abilities seems useless considering the risks to gets it, but is really fit for MC. Overall, this novel is an underrated gem.

Well you see the reviews on sword god in the world of magic, I realise that most of readers here are kids who only love romance and harem,

Are you sure? There are too many hate comments against harem in this site. Someone rarely(can't or aren't able to cause they can't find reasons lol) defends it. A new novel being harem automatically means trash here. The new batch's two gems were in the realm of impossible to not see that many hate comments. I will admit most kids can fall into those categories, but most readers in this site being harem lovers is not possible.

Just check out the ratings and rankings, cultivation online, supreme harem god system, depressed kendo player, child hood friend of the zenith, conquerors path, village heads dubachory, son of the hero king, all this novels have ratings above 4.1. And most of them are within top 50. And every decent story with harem have ratings higher than 4.4, no matter how many hate comments there are, ranking and ratings speak volumes. And that's just harem there are many romance novels which have ratings and ranking even higher.

dunno about the rest but childhood friend of the zenith isn't bad. yes, it being a harem takes away points from me, but at least it isn't the annoying type where the character just appears with no growth throughout the story

I am ashamed to see most of them are sm*t novels. The world is on the road to doom 😭 There are about 14-16 harem novels in the top 50. This isn't majority unless romance is added.

Well and there is harem novel I really liked ( beyond 250 ranks) academy's demon limited hunter, if it was within top 50 then may be but conquerors path and harem god system is just, it's just too much. Guess it is what it is.😷

What's Nick's current age ? And does this novel has time skips to ? If yes, then when do they start ?

Yes timeskips, age is a spoiler in my opinion it reveals some things extra when you read a little of the book, and time skips start late into the novel

Tbh while I love warmaisach writing it is sometimes frustrating to read and pretty dark? As in hopeless in most cases with the MC being almost always given a glimmer of hope only to lose it and fall deeper and deeper into hell with like everything he cares dead or destroyed which for the 3 rd novel in the row kinda impressive (talking about litow and sword god)

yeah I get the dark part like he absolutely loves gore with all the isolation chamber and death pit stuff in sword god but the thing is he improved all that in kill the sun a little bit and it got even lower than Sword god and since i am not caught up yet i just didn't understand what he did wrong.

But yeah he did nothing wrong and the novel entered a more chill arc you could say

Idk till where you read but after the Spartans infiltration and even back during dreamer incident with horua (iirc) warmaisach showed that nick will feel guilty for his actions and mourn not everyone likes to read about guilt filled chapters especially shounen readers which to be frank this novel kind of is but it's just a staple of warmaisach writing at this point. Although I regret some of nicks choices I know that the fact I care about nicks growth shows that warmaisach made another good novel.

yeah it also happened with shang with his first murder in sword god. It's his style and it might've looked good if not for the continuous time skips he keeps giving which ruins a little bit of the growth as it reaches a sudden halt and then we just start at another level with abrupt growth all of a sudden
