Summary

With a father as strong as the highest heavens themselves, Gravis wasn't required to step into the cold and ruthless world of cultivation.

But when Heaven used him in a scheme to get back at his father, Gravis realized that he needed strength to gain true freedom.

As long as he remained his weak self, he would always remain beneath Heaven’s oppression. Only true power brings true freedom.

To gain strength, Gravis ventured into the lower worlds to start his cultivation under true life and death tempering.

Only a strong will, which had been forged in striving for every resource available, would allow him to reach the peak.

Heaven’s strongest weapon was Lightning of Divine Punishment, and only if he made this weapon his, would he have a chance.

So, to overthrow Heaven,

Lightning Is the Only Way!

Yet, the path to power is painful.

Not everyone reaches the peak.

But Gravis will!

No matter how much pain he feels along the way!

they hit the peak of divine god rank and then went their separate ways, their mentality is a bit odd they have no desires other than survive for the sake of surviving and dont care when death comes to call. felt kinda lame but w/e better than skye getting culled so early

The logical happened, some of his friends died to tribulations, the ending was even more chaotic, we don't even know if Arc survived. But, that's that and this is this, I guess. There's also more of Gravis at the end of Sword God in a World of Magic and maybe at the end of Kill the Sun, so there's that!

I've completed this novel at 11th March 2025. And all i can say is that reading this was worth it. I will now go ahead to read the other two novels by this author since the comments always talk about these three being connected somehow. If you wanna start reading this novel and haven't read the other two, just beware of the spoilers in the comment section. Those b*st*rds are like children who don't know how keep it in their heads.

On chapter 138 Do you guys think that Gravis' father is truly on the same level as the Heaven? Heaven is not only present in the peak world, but there is a version of it in every world? Also, it sort of controls fate with the 'Karmic Luck'. And it can clearly influence almost everything, one way or the other. Gravis' father does not seem to have similar powers at all. So how is he fighting and maintaining a stalemate with Heaven? I mean even in our best case scenarios for Gravis, we can only hope that Heaven remains fair so that Gravis gets an honest chance at achieving something, never do we even discuss of a scenario where the odds are in MC's favor. Doesn't that mean that with all his power, MC's father can only strive for equal opportunity, whereas Heaven constantly reigns supreme. Also, I think Heaven cannot just simply give or take someone's 'Karmic Luck'. Maybe KL is like energy, as in it can only be transferred. So heaven transfers one's KL to another when it wishes.

i think heaven is not sth born and all its unique abilities are unique for itself but gravis's father climbed from step one to where he is now so like human can breath heaven can do it's own things but that doesn't mean that some one who reaches its level can do things it can so there is no plot hole here if you are searching for one just enjoy it

Thanks for the explanation. I am not looking for a plot hole, but rather some kind of future reveal. I just want to make my guesses, and figure out what the power scaling might actually be like. It just does not make sense for two beings at the same level to be so different in their power and its application. I mean I would understand if this was a case of them having different elements (example), so they manifest and use that power in different ways. But the scale of their attacks, their will, their dominance and control over others should have been sort of equal. But it is not like that here (for now). From what I understand, every world has its Heaven, so every world might also have its Heaven Sect, but not the Opposer Sect. Do you know what I mean? The Opposer does not seem to have the same influence as Heaven, yet. So can we truly say that they are equal in power?

This contains some spoilers. . . . . . . The way the Opposer is equal to heaven is the law he comprehended which makes him equal against the HH.

A solid 7/10, worth the read if you are into power fantasy There's not much to say here other than it's basically what you would expect out of a power fantasy like a cultivation novel. I enjoyed reading the MC ascend to power and that's pretty much it. As for the author's other works. I can't speak on Kill The Sun since I haven't read it and it's unfinished, but for Sword God in a World of Magic, it shouldn't matter if you read this novel first or not. They basically aren't related at all, and you'll only get an extra little 'aha' moment once you finish both novels and understand how the world building finally overlaps between the two. If you prefer darker novels, god read the sword novel. If you like lighter novels, then start with this one.
